Sponsor a Microloan Group
Microloans have become an invaluable tool in the field of international development. These small loans allow disadvantaged people access to credit and with it the ability to improve their own lives and the lives of their families. The Yonso Project issues loans to groups of women in Ghana (typically five borrowers at a time) who then invest the money in their small businesses, typically by purchasing inventory or by buying equipment.
The cost of sponsoring a five-person micro- loan group is a $250 donation. When we issue your sponsorship money to a group of carefully selected applicants at the beginning of the next loan cycle, we will send you information about the group and their intended use for the loan. Then, at the end of the loan period, we will keep you informed about their repayment and about how the loan has affected their lives. And best of all, because the money is repaid to us by the group, we will re-issue it as new loan capital -- meaning your initial $250 gift continues to benefit the community over and over again!
By giving rural Ghanaian entrepreneurs access to capital, you help open up a world of opportunities for them and for their children. You can become a sponsor below, or continue reading about the microloan program in more detail on our microlending main page.
